I prefer dogs over cats.  I have a few parrots in my house and a cat scratch could be fatal to them.

My dog (a yorkie) runs in the other direction when the birds invade her territory.

Dogs are my favorite. For one, we are both allergic to cats. We both hate the smell of cat pee. And I just think dogs are cuter. I suppose we might as well try to determine why one person favors blue and another loves green. We just do.

I love dogs. Cats are very independent, they are not so connected to its owner. But dogs love to please their owners, they live for that. They are very caring, gentle and know us better than anyone. I have a dalmatian, and two Labrador retrievers. They are my passion :-)

I'm definitely a dog person. Cats are cute, but they just sit there - you can't really play with them, they just sit there and pur.
My old beagle was lots of fun - you could play with him, run around and wrestle, or just cuddle! He was a great dog, and that's why I love dogs so much!
On this hub that I wrote, you can see a picture of a dog who looks so much like mine did - http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Cutest-Dogs

I cannot pick one over the other. I love them both for different reasons. Cats because they are instant stress relief. It's a known fact. Dogs because they will always be happy to see you. Come on your kids aren't even that good!

i would get a cat cause then you dont have to go home to let your dog out and they can just go potty inside so it would save you time so you dont have to go let your dog out. cats also dont make big of messes and they are playful and dont bother you that much

I love dogs. They can't hide their emotions, which I think is cool. And I value loyalty above...almost every other trait. You can't get that kind of loyalty with people, at least not most. And they don't judge, it's all love. Love for everything, it's so nice to escape to. My dog always tries to lick my face when I'm sad, it's like he's reminding me that i'm loved, which always makes me feel better. Everything he does is so dang adorable.

I can't decide! Dogs and cats have different responsibility requirements and I get a different relationship with each. My cat, Murp, doesn't need constant attention like dogs seem to, but he is needy enough to leap up onto my shoulder when I come home from the office. He snuggles around my neck and purrs non-stop while he licks my ear and hair. When I put him down, he tells me all about his day and how much he missed me; He's a talker. My dog, Oberon wags his nub of a tail and makes a snarly face (like a smile) when I come home. He walks over to me, sits by my side and leans into my leg and I rub his head while the cat snuggles my face. I love them both!
