What are the safest, non-toxic flea and tick repellants for dogs that are sold commercially?
I would recommend "Frontline" for dogs. I have been using it on my dog ever since it was a pup at the suggestion of its veterinarian. It is really effective as it can repel ticks, fleas, and mites for a whole month. It is also quite simple to use - squeeze one capsule of Frontline onto your dog's back and do not touch your dog for 24 hours as the liquid is diffused to form a coat to repel such parasites. However, it really isn't harmful to dogs at all and it is even waterproof, which means your dog can swim or bathe, 48 hours after application though. This product is a great help if you and your dog enjoy going for adventures in the woods where there are lots of harmful parasites that can be caught in your dog's fur. Here's the website for you to surf through for more info, but this product is also available on the shelves http://www.frontline.com/ Hope it helps.
I personally like Natural Defense and have used this with my pets for a couple of years and have had no fleas or ticks - and my dogs spend a lot of time outdoors, running in tall grass and brush.
