when ever my cat trys to bite me i tap him/her on the nose and tell him/her no fermly
I would use clicker training. I recommend the same as I recommend for puppy biting:
1. Provide an alternative, for example a kitty Kong
2. Use negative punishment, that is, withdraw the reward (your attention) that reinforces the biting behavior.

If the cat bites you the best thing to do is to make a lot of discontented noise and pull your hand away. Then at times when the cat is calm and not biting, let the cat play with your fingers in his mouth playfully. If he starts to bite hard make noise again. I find my cat now knows when it's okay to nibble at the fingers and not bite.
