What Is The Best Kind Of Feed Or Food For Raising Chickens?
What Is The Best Kind Of Feed Or Food For Raising Chickens? What types of food or feed would be best for raising chickens for eggs or food.
The feed stores carry what is called chicken scratch. It's a pellet type food that chickens like. Chickens also like curdled milk (poured out on the ground). So if you have milk that goes sour, don't throw it out - give it to the chickens. I think it may help in their calcium production for their eggs.
Backyard chickens will eat just about anything. They do need proper grains you can buy in your local store and on top of that you supplement your chickens with scraps from your table. Not too much corn but everything else is fine. Chickens love meat in small doses; everything except chicken meat is acceptable. 3 hours of daily free ranging in your garden will take care of your chicken's nutrition. Make sure you have a few laying boxes around, chickens will have their own favorite laying place which they do not like to share. Good luck and enjoy your eggs!
