How long can a green cheeked conure stay alone?
If you have a green cheek conure and give it food and water, how long can they stay home by their selves. Since they are social, can they be left alone for a day, a few days or several days.
Assuming that someone is visiting them to clean the cage and change water bowls, ect, a few days seems reasonable. Of course this may depend on the individual traits of each bird. But as long as it's temporary I don't see why that couldn't be extended. I don't see the difference between 3 days and 5 days except that the bird will enjoy seeing you as soon as possible. They 'can' stay alone for prolonged amounts of time but you may not want to do it if you can avoid it. Many vets and some pet stores bird sit.
Paul, I found a really good answer to your question on "Yahoo Answers." Evidently it depends on how much your conure is used to being taken out and played with.
She suggests that if you frequently handle it, then don't leave it alone for more than a day.
