    Dog wanting to mate my pregnant dog ?

    My dog is looking like he wants to mate with my pregnant dam she is around 7 weeks give or take a a couple of days. Does any one know why this could be please .

    It is possible your male is just interested in your female still, or that he is expressing more of a "dominance" behavior rather than a sexual one. You'll be able to tell if this is the case if your female is not receptive to his advances (sitting, snarling, moving away, etc). It may also be that the hormonal changes from your female's pregnancy are attractive to your male, keeping him interested even if she isn't in heat.

    If you haven't already, confirming the pregnancy with your vet and making sure everything is progressing well is always smart, to ensure both mom and puppies are doing well and there are no problems. Depending on how far along she is, your vet may also be able to take an X-ray so you know how many puppies to expect!
