Momma is eating very well but is acting weird and losing weight after birthing 3 weeks ago. ???
She had 6 pups. She doesnt want to feed and is not intentive with them very much. She doesn't have worms. I am having to ween pups few days early. Any ideas without vet yet?
She is not acting weird. This is normal when pups are about 3 wks old. Now is the time to start feeding them, but you do not wean at this age.
Your dogs all have worms. If you do not believe then you need to Google "How to roundworms become active in very young puppies?" and learn about worms. You can buy cheap dewormer like pyrantel pamoate at your local feed store and deworm the pups and the mother.
A mother dog who is not attentive to pups at 3 weeks needs to see a vet. And so do the pups. Don't mess around with home de-worming until you know what the problem is.
You need to realize that not everyone lives in your world nor lives your reality. Not everyone lives where they can even get to a vet, nor can everyone afford one. A dog that wants to start weaning her puppies at 3 weeks is normal.
