my dog has recently died and to keep me from breaking down i am keeping in my head all the memories that we had with him. please post any of your funny, sad, eventful or simply anything thats special to you that you remember about your pet
my little Rudy died after 11 years 4 weeks ago.Only thing I had to put him down,I can tell you he loved to shop he went every where I went even in Walgreens he thought he was a person. It hurts so bad there are some days I can not even standit. If you want to talk please write me kybluenaz@hotmail.com I am filing a complaint for the way the vet handled his body. Thank You Ronda
First, let me say to Rhonda and Emma I know exactly how it feels to lose a treasured pet, my condolences.
I too had encountered a lousy vet (Banfield), I can tell you it's pretty much useless to complain. This vet business has turned into a business more than pet care. There are vets that really care, but they are trapped in a profit first system.
When I lost my little girl earlier this year, it was worse than losing a loved one. You know how tight the bond becomes. About a month later I saw an ad on TV for pet fostering. It tugged at my heart that I didn't want to replace my little girl, but the thought that kept going through my mind was "since I'm still here (alive) my little girl is gone, but I can help a dog be comfortable until they are adopted".
Even to this day I morn the loss, but fostering a dog in need has been rewarding, each dog is unique, you cannot and should not try to replace the loss. Do your best for the living, save the good memories of the past.
If you want someone who can help?

Does a horse count as a pet? One of the best mounts I've ever had was killed by a bull while she was working cattle. She was such a great horse - sweet, smart, athletic, and very fast.
Any animal you have love for counts as a pet, habee, you know that! I lost my precious Birthday a few weeks ago and don't think I'll ever get over it.
I've never had a horse, but some folks I've known are so close, it rivals human relationships. I'm so sorry.
Thanks, Laurel. How have you been since you lost Birthday? Is it getting any easier?
It's been a roller coaster, really-2 days after I put him down, my daughter-in-law went into labor, and a week later-on September 1-my first grandchild was born! He's wonderful. I'm thinking lots about my old dog's soul somehow inhabiting this child-may sound crazy, but who knows? He was such a gentle soul!

Hi! My cat named Junior--as if anybody actually cared except me, of course--left me with many good memories. To this day I still miss her, in Cat Heaven, but cherish my memories of her during the seven years she and I were a family.

There are so many! I have 15 years of memories of my Redbone cross...his mother died two days after his birth, so I took over care of the litter and got to keep him when the others went to new homes. I remember when he was no bigger than my hand, eyes still shut and grabbing at the bottle I held for him. I got into 4-H when he was four months old, and he became the first dog I ever trained...now I've trained thousands. He went everywhere with me and was never happy unless he was as close to me as possible. Many mornings I've woken up to his face two inches from mine with a meaningful look telling me that I should hurry out of bed and let him outside...NOW. He came into my life right before my 9th birthday, and lived to "adopt" my son, walk along for his first steps, and try to teach him the proper use of wading pools in the summer.
And yes, horses definitely count! My Welsh/Shetland pony taught me to ride...and taught me just how ornery ponies can be. She'd go on long rides with me, but whenever she was done she'd let me know by flopping on her side...mid-step...regardless of how fast we were going. My last horse was a pride-cut Mustang gelding who was rounded up when he was 9, I got him at 19. For five years he taught me extreme patience and the ins and outs of equine body language. He behaved well most of the time after I got the hang of his preferences, other than picking a fight once in a mixed herd (geldings only after that!)...but if we got near water, he'd take the bit in his teeth and try everything to get into it, even if it meant attempting to jump off a bridge.
we've had a few different dogs over the years. I once had a dog Oscar, he was a mutt, but he was like one of the family went everywhere with us kids.
My grandma always talked about a dog they had when my mother was a baby. She said he was a very smart dog. He kept the kids corraled in the yard while she was hanging laundry. Kept them out of the road. And he would go get the bigger kids when it was time for supper.
All of the animals you've mentioned should be able to remember you easily, especially the crow and the coyotes. The birds of prey are very quick learners, and should remember you as well.

If a man remembers a woman's birthday (even after years), does that mean he really cares?I had a relationship with a guy when I was a teen, he left after 2 months following an advice from a friend. But we never lost contact, even when I was married with children and he in a relationship with...

Today is my mother's birthday. Last year we celebrated her 84th birthday, and then four days later, she went on to celebrate Christmas in Heaven. The song on the radio that was playing when my brother heard of her death was, "It is too cold out for angels to fly" ... I am sure...

I am going through an extreme soul-searching exercise and would like to have some assistance from my fellow hubbers.I have spent far too many years allowing others in my life to dictate how I spend my time. For instance, many years were filled with sports and school events for the kids,...
