Scrapbooking Paper

Updated on June 29, 2009

Supplies are very important when it comes to scrapbooking. In order to bring your imagination to life, you need to have complete materials. These include adhesive components, designing items, cutting tools, art materials and most importantly the right scrapbooking paper.

Thanks to the growing number of scrapbookers, more and more papers for scrapbooking are being manufactured. In fact, all the best scrapbook papers are now being sold online. You can conveniently choose from an array of themes and colors. In order to pick the right paper for your project, you have to consider several things. Below are some of the factors you have to consider:

·         The thickness of the paper is important. Although the paper is thick, you should still be able to bend it with ease. This will allow you to work with the paper. The paper used here should be thicker than ordinary paper to prevent being torn easily. You also have to bear in mind that you will be pasting some items on it. If it is not thick enough, it will not be able to firmly hold your memorable items.

·         The texture of the paper is another essential consideration. This is especially true when you are going to paste items other than paper. Some items need a coarse texture in order to stick. Read what items these papers support so that you will know what to purchase in case you want to use unique materials.

·         The design of the paper matters as well, especially if you are working with a specific theme. Do not forget to consider the color and the pattern of the scrapbook you are going to make.

·         Other features of the paper also matters for some scrapbookers. Beginners want to have a pre-defined space for the photos as well as captions, while others want to have multi-layered page.

Remember that choosing a good scrapbooking paperwill help you create your ideal scrapbook pages. In order to accomplish this, take time to browse through online scrapbook shops and find the most suitable scrapbook paper for your project.

Patterned Scrapbooking Papers

There are thousands of different patterned papers you can buy for scrapbooking.  Look out for dollhouse wallpaper, craft papers, handmade papers and even real wallpaper.  Some will work well as backgrounds.

You can often find scrapbooking kits in a whole range of coordinating colors and designs.

Patterned background papers can add variety and interest to your pages, but take care that they don't overwhelm the mementos you want to display.  It is better to decide on the pattern of your background after you have your layout in mind so that you can pick the pattern to complement your items rather than have to make the things you want to display fit in with your background.
