Why isn't Paradiso in the picture? And why is Florence there instead? Can anyone tell me more about

This fresco, in the dome of the church of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, was painted by Domenico di Michelino in 1465. It depicts Dante Alighieri holding a copy of The Divine Comedy. That’s Hell (Inferno) on the left, with all its tortured souls. Mount Purgatory (Purgatorio) is in the background, with Adam and Eve at the top. The city of Florence is on the right, and the celestial spheres are above. What a vivid imagination!
