Scrapbooking is a craft that involves creatively adhering photos and other mementos to pages in an album. Along with the photos, it is a must to include information about the photos, such as who, what, when, where, and why. This is called journaling.
Decide on a theme for your scrapbook. It can be a family scrapbook, or on Birthdays, job, Christmas, family get-togethers, special events, new home, graduation, new baby, school days, wedding, vacation, etc. Anything you can think of!
Look at other scrapbooks and think up ideas of how you want to organize your scrapbook. Gather as many pictures, other memorable souvenirs, tickets, receipts, decorative materials like die-cuts, embellishments, eyelets, eyelet settler, glitter, paper punchers, patterned paper, ribbons, stickers, etc. Online art stores or art retailers, and craft stores are the easiest places to obtain scrapbooking materials. Or get a scrapbooking kit from the bookstore. Ideally, the paper/album that you use should be acid free.
Decide on how you want to order your scrapbook. You can also write special stories, poems, phrases, bullet form, etc on your pages. Some people like to write a lot to describe what is going on in the pictures featured on their pages. It is good to title your pages too. Behind your pictures, you can use die-cuts or cut frames out of colored or patterned paper. Stickers can also be used. Stencils can be used to give a neat outline to your pages, or punches can also be used to add a creative touch. You can decide what you want to do depending on your own personal style and who you are making this scrapbook for. Do a 'cover page' for each year or event and keep it simple and bold. Stick on to one project before you move on to another.
