I want to wrap from one side' of a ring to the bottom of and up the other side of the ring...
completely enclosing that area of the ring leaving a portion"say almost half 'to the top w/o wrap how would you proceed? I want to use JADE as my base putting a small hole on 1 side to start the wrap and wrapping the ring until I reach the other hole in the Jade on the 2nd side, w/ the 1st. hole and wire secured I can tighten the tension of the strand of gold wire that was soldered in until i reach the 2nd hole which will in the end also be gold soldered to hold the end strand in place Am I barking up the wrong end of the tree or Am I right in method. please contact me @ firstname.lastname@example.org or 4
I have looked through several patterns and haven't found anything similar to what you want to do. I don't think you will have too many problems with the actual wrapping. You can use half round wire to wrap the shank, after you have formed it on the mandle. (If I understand you correctly. This will add strength to the shank and keep it from bending.) If you are using a 'ring' of jade, you can still wrap the shank for added dimension.
As for the top, you can always add a looping design to showcase the jade and make it a one of a kind piece.
