Can you recommend a great, light, easy to use tripod or monopod for my camera?

What is the best kind of tripod to buy?  I am also interested in getting a monopod, do you have any recommendations for either, or tips?  I have not ever purchased one before, and there are so many different ones with different features.  I am not one that likes the idea of even using one, but know that its a matter of time before I break down and get one.  I like to be on the go with my photography, often hiking or walking distances for some time.  Thanks for any thoughts or tips!

A lot depends on what camera gear you have, what subjects you shoot, the terrain where you shoot, distance from shoot to starting location and so on. However there are some standard tripods which are generally very adaptable to most situations. You can check this link to Manfrotto, which is a pretty good supplier. The Challenge series is quite good.

You might want to check out the brand called Joby. They have some portable tripods that you can bend and mold to different surfaces. They are pretty interesting. I like the one I bought a while ago.
