Consider barter. There are increasing numbers of online sites that may be able to pair you up with a local mechanic who might be willing to barter auto work for, say, mending, window-washing, yardwork, tax help, etc.
Depending on what is wrong with it, you may be able to fix it yourself. Post a new question about what is wrong and I may be able to talk you through it or recommend a better idea.
