Ok I have a 2009 dodge caliber, we hit a curb about a month ago and bent the inner tie rod well..
we got out there and strait-end it out but about two or three days after that it started making this god awful sound it is coming from the left side of the engine down bellow where the drive belt is but I cant figure out what it is and now I started it up tonight and it smells like a transmission smell but kinda like a burning smell to I cant figure out what it is.
Sounds like you've bent more than just your tie-rod. Check if the lower control arm isn't bent as well causing the CV shaft to operate at a different angle.
You might be leaking transmission fluid from the transmission seal were the shaft goes into. This might also be the noise you're getting.
