How much money do you spend on gas for your car in one week?

Do you look for short-cuts to get to work?  Do you use an alternate method of transportation?

We are retired so our gas bill has leveled off at just under $100 a month. When my husband still worked in town it was around $300 a month.  We live in a very rural area and we do not have any other methods of transportation, no buses etc.

Thanks for your response.  It's great to have that extra $200 I bet!

My work is two dozen steps from my bedroom in all directions. For the month of May I put $20 worth in the tank, and the tank is just under half full.

Thanks Jim for your response.  Lucky you!  I spend more than that in one week.  Wish I could walk a small distance to where I work.

I spend $ 8.5 to $ 9.0 for one week.  I am a good travel mate and I love travelling a lot.  It depends on your heart whether you love roads love music, and indeed love speed.  It is very romantic to drive the car with dim street light and soft music.  Usage of gas is very economic when compared to fuel.  Fuel prices do not affect much more in my travelogue.

lifetips, thanks very much for your response.  I think $8 to $9 per week is a great bargain.

I'm a full time student and I work part time and neither campus or work are really close to where I live, and add in visiting my family frequently, I'm pretty active on the road.  I have a small car that gets good gas mileage, so I put roughly $40 a week to fill my tank, less if I'm not really near empty when I have the opportunity to fill up.  I'm pretty good at scouting around for the cheapest gas in my travels.

Diane, it seems a lot when you spend that times 4 each month which is close to what I put in my tank.  Good for you in your endeavors with both school and working!

We have one vehicle, a van, and have almost everything we need within a five mile radius. We spend around $40-$50 for the week in gas. We also make a lot of trips to and from work, children's school, etc.

I spend so much I feel like pushing my car when stuck in traffic now.
