Are you scared of driving?
Don't feel ashamed because of this, you are not alone. Many people suffer from driving anxiety.
I get anxious when driving to new places, but am not very bothered when the area is familiar. Having a GPS device has helped too. But, the way I always explained it was that, if you take a wrong turn while walking, you can just turn around and go on the correct path. If you take a wrong turn while driving, you go way out of your way. Especially on the highway, when each exit can be very far apart. I'm not a huge fan of getting lost.
yes, I once drove my car and had an accident. After that, my hubby refused to let me drive. didn't drive for 10 years !
I suffer from this. It is not that I am afraid of driving even though I have two deer under my belt and drive a bit in snow. I have a 75 mile one way commute to work and even though there is a chance of something breaking on my car halfway to work (I work the night shift) in my 22 years at my job I only had to call off a handful of times. What gets me is just doing local driving. After driving for over an hour each day I cannot stand driving the couple of miles to the store. I try to get everything done in one trip-going to the store, bank, pay bills. And it is more the anxiety of trying to get everything done in an hour or two that gets to me than from driving anxiety.
Depends on the location. Some larger cities like the heart of Los Angeles have a lot of cars and huge intersections. You have to practice defensive driving because you might encounter other people on the road who may not be paying attention, run red lights,or cut you off.

My scariest thing was discovering my down syndrome son had just swallowed a pinball and a dime. I immediately called 911. He ended up being okay, and has never done it since. That was when he was younger. It was one of the most scary moments he put me through.
