   Let's assume all jobs paid the same.  With that in mind, what would you do for a living?
   
   A long time ago, before I started my own business, I asked the above question, when I was a manager at a software company.   Actually a longer form.  Let's assume we lived in a world in which all jobs paid the same.  Bill Gates and the janitor down the street got paid the same.  What would you do for a living?  I used this question when I interviewed candidates for positions.  You'd be surprised at what people would say, as opposed to what they had been doing as a job in the past, or what they were applying for.

   If all jobs paid the same, I still would had been a news reporter (probably would had resulted in a raise over my first job.) There is nothing wrong with wanting a good paying job. However, if you do not enjoy the work, all the wealth is not going to make you happy. Doctors make good money, but a lot of them work very long hours and spent a lot of time and money to become a doctor. If they did not like what they were doing, they would not be very good doctors.
   
   Money pays the bills and feeds the family. However, satisfaction with the job is a key element that can prove to be priceless in the long term.

      Larry, I agree with you.  All the wealth made in a job of which you derive no personal satisfaction, but do it for the money is a dead end.  Thank you for your input.

   Given the current political climate, I would do as little as possible, I would want no responsibility, I would like a guaranteed pension that would start at an early age.
   Otherwise, I would probably keep doing the same job I am currently doing.  I already do things that I don't get paid for.  I don't see why I would change.  I am paid well.  I impact people's lives and almost always in the positive.  I can do things that many others can't or would be afraid to do.  I have earned a lot of respect from others for my opinion and for what I do.  I try to lead in positive ways and strive to do better and help others do better as well.
   If I could do a job a again that I have already had in life, I would be an usher at a movie theater or a delivery boy for a mom and pop drug store.  Or, I'd go all the way back to being a paperboy delivering the morning paper.  I loved getting up early, even on cold snowy winter mornings.  There was nobody bothering me.  It was quiet.  I thought about a lot of things while I delivered those papers.

      bankscottage,  I really appreciate your words.  As for me, the Air Force was great because of the comraderie. I enjoy what I do now because I help people & provide direction. I would personally like to do more speaking, but haven't pursued it eno

   Believe it or not, I'm doing it right now--Hubbing! It is a sacrifice for my family, but I believe that I am following my dream of writing online content, something that I have dreamed of doing, but haven't had an opportunity to do so until recently. Writing is my life and something that fills me with joy and the opportunity to share with others. Besides, why wait to live out one's dream--do it now!

   It took me 20 years to realize I was meant for this job. Originally I wanted to become a fashion designer, but since I do believe that there are no coincidences, I'd be a teacher all over again.

   ohhh the work of a civil engr. I dont care if the salary is the same as that of a janitor or any job..i would love to be on that field anyway, it will make me happy and contented at the end of the day.

   Sit behind a desk all day as a payroll person. If I wasn't a full-time student, this is what my job would be now. There was a position that opened at the community college I attended and adore.

   Hmm...anything? I've always thought it would be amazing to work with dolphins. Besides that, I'd love to be a health coach and help others to lead a healthy life. I've learned so much about health and wellness and am passionate about helping others to feel better just like I've helped myself and family/friends.
