I work from home so my commute is less than a minute to go downstairs.
However when I did have to show up in a office setting I usually went with the 30 minute drive commute. In some instances depending on the salary I could see up to 45 minutes.
The main variables are how much you like the job/opportunity, the hours/schedule, cost of gas/transportation, and weather conditions.
If you're paying over $4 per gallon of gas and driving 2 hours roundtrip each day if you have deduct that from your net earnings. You also have to consider your health with regard to stress levels being in heavy traffic. Odds are you'll have just enough energy to eat, watch some TV, and go to bed. No energy for after work activities.
