I've been dismissed for suspicion of theft, can they tell this if asked for a reference ?

I had nothing to do with the theft at all, but they've said they can fire me for gross misconduct on suspicion ?

I don't know where you are, but over here in the UK, I would guess that the Labour Exchange, or whatever it is called these days, and/or your trades union, would be pushing you to take the company to an industrial tribunal.  The courts can't convict you on suspicion, it has to be proved, are you suggesting that companies have more power than the courts?

I wasn't sure if they would be able to do this as I haven't done anything wrong and there was no way I could defend myself with them.

    Thank you
