How to work with a woman who takes everything you say defensively?
We just hired a girl who in training right now. But she takes everything we try to teach her or so her as if we are chastising her. She gets so defensive. But I am having a hard time. She is doing stuff wrong and um she is not really following instructions. She'll snap that she knows something when I try to show her the correct way of doing things. And then ahead does it wrong. Its a nightmare.
Document, document, document! Her manager needs to set some guidelines and rules of behavior with her. It probably wont help. Some people can just not be wrong. Given that, you may try to approach her by praising what she does right. You can also try to make a little pile of things that have been rejected. Let her figure out what is wrong with them and offer to help if she needs it.
There is nothing like a large stack to of work that needs to be fixed to humble someone into listening. Good luck with this.
