What would be a good second career for an out-of-work journalist?

There are quite a few of laid off/disillusioned journalists in the world right about now. Any recommendations, or first-hand accounts of career changes for these ink-stained souls?

With your excellent writing skill you don't need a boss.  All you need is a computer with internet access.  You're already a member of Hubpages, just keep writing and you'll get paid for your work.  I've heard about people made decent money here. That's why I joined.  Or you can self publish your work.

I think that might depend on how long you've been a journalist...if you weren't working before digital stuff started taking over everything, you could probably find some type of work through a temp agency... look for positions that will utilize your communications skills. Temp agencies don't promise anything permanent, so it can give you the chance to try something new and if you like it, good, if not, that's ok too.
