   Has Hubpages helped anyone with their writing career?
   
   I find that my HP profile is an excellent CV when it comes to applying for jobs. Because of this I may have an opportunity to work for a company and have a permanent position with them. Has Hubpages helped anyone else?

   Yes. I have just landed a job in PR but couldn't find my file of old press releases. I was able to list a few places where my writing is online - including HubPages - and that got me the job. Congratulations on your possible job!

   This question and the responses so far illustrate the danger of a writer relying on a ghost writing site like textbroker. You can't point to the articles as yours because you have no right to them. HP, on the other hand, gives a writer a chance to develop a portfolio.

   Just signed on, so I am hoping that this venue will enable me to find some "freelance" writing work. My expertise is in Home inspection, gardening, travel and seniors issues in Canada. Housexpert, Blind River ON

   I haven't gotten any freelance work yet, but I believe that writing everyday definitely keeps my skills intact. Writing is like being an athlete, in that one has to exercise all of their writing skills regularly to keep them honed and sharp. That being said, I have seen more improvement in what do here on HubPages and for now, this is my permanent position.

   Recently decided to become serious with my hub pages.So far it is okay. In year or so, i may be able to give a better answer.I really like the fact that i can get a lot of information within one platform, which helps me build my knowledge tremendously.

   I'm just honing my skills, but I do think it can be a good representation of a writing portfolio or anything else like if you write on a subject that's related to what you're applying for than that's good too. It does not just help your writing career but can help any other kind of career in my opinion.

   Not yet, but i hope in the future it will. I signed up about 3 months ago. I like it and i am learning a lot. I hope to basically use this as a portfolio in the future. Who knows maybe write a book? I am really happy for you though, good luck with new position and keep hubbing.

      Thanks: Yes, I do know that there is a learning curve here. Try to start off writing/submitting articles (small) to local publications. You can make extra money and hone your writing skills in this way. housexpert Blind River ON Canada

    Yes! I promote my HubPages profile as an online portfolio page. When I submit for writing assignments, I include a link to my HubPages profile, asking the potential employer to visit my HP portfolio which shows my writing style and ability to write about the subjects they require. I have received opportunities directly as a result of writing for HubPages.
