It's the first day of your job and unfortunately you got rejected at the end of the day....
You got rejected because of the failure to meet your manager's high expectations, the idiosyncrasies you have, etc. If this happened to you, what would you do?
I would look at my idiosyncrasies and ask myself, "Are these worth it?" Then I would say to myself, "No, they aren't!" And, I would start to retrain myself not to do those things.
Also, I would not fear. I would know that God had a BETTER job for me, and did not want me to have the one I lost.
Finally, I would go home and praise God.
After all that, I would start searching for another job. But, I would pray before applying to each one.
Get depressed, read a few self-motivation books, analyze myself and write a blog on my experience.
I would ask for some clear feedback, to determine whether it was a real fault or just a personality clash. Also, I would assess whether the goals set for my first day in a job were unreasonably high. If so, I may try to talk to the manager about what I had done. If that was unsuccessful, I would look for another, better job elsewhere - at the end of the day, its their loss!
This happened to me when I was in my 20's and I thank my lucky stars. Better to leave early than to be subjected to what the future may hold with a company that holds such high expectations on your first day. Every well deserving company gives employees at least a week to settle in and get to know your way around.
