Why is it legal to import products made under conditions that would be illegal in American?
American Corporations import products that are made in unsafe conditions, with child labor, with slave labor (wage slaves).
Good question. It likely has to do with the fact that lobbyists representing these companies work to ensure the legality of this. The companies importing the goods usually pay some amount of taxes here and contribute to our economy so these things are considerations as well. Though it appears that the simplest answer may simply be that there is hypocrisy in business and our laws.

I personally think it is ridiculous that it's not allowed. But according to polls the majority disagree with me! Surely there must be somebody on here that favors the outlawing of marijuana. Tell me why!
