When is the last time you wrote a thank you note?
What was it for? For the support at work? Support at home? A special friendship? Did you hand write it, type it, email it?
Or alternatively, have you receive a note? How did it make you feel?
Also, how would you like to be thanked?
I recently hand wrote a thank you note for my aunt since she sent me a hand made doily for my upcoming wedding.
When considering sending thank yous, I try to consider which generation the person I am intending to thank is from. My aunt, from the same generation as my mother, grew up during the time when handwritten thank you notes are, in a way, expected.
I also believe that, following tradition, it's appropriate to send thank you notes for gifts received from parties such as graduation and/or weddings.
Other than that, I am personally just fine with an in-person thank you or one by email or text.
