Freelance Writing: Writers Who Have Been My Support System
Little did I know back on the 14th of February when I wrote the first part of this series that my followers would more than double. I do believe this series needs to be a little longer than I had originally planned. Still, the first hub was written to thank those hubbers who had been by my side from the very beginning, and with that in mind this second hub concludes the original list. I have no doubt that other hubs will follow because since the 14th I have had the pleasure to meet some incredible people who deserve their own moment under my spotlight.
Shortly after I finished my 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge I wrote a hub talking about the experience. In it I mentioned that the most significant reward I had received from that challenge was the relationships that had formed with fellow hubbers along the way. As you all know by now I have a tendency to write about things of the heart, things that have affected me deeply over the years, and consequently my hubs tend to be of great importance to me. What I found out, however, was that my topics were important to a great many hubbers out there who had similar experiences in their lives. Their comments and support have moved me beyond words and made me realize one important fact: we are all the same.
We are all human; we all laugh and cry and fear and bluster and feel pain….we are all the same in our humanness. I would suggest to those out there who are just starting that you write from your heart; people will follow along if they know you are genuine and honest in your sharing, and during the process you are going to meet some friends who just might be with you for life.
With that said here are the remaining members of my original Grateful List!
SUNSHINE ON MY SHOULDER MAKES ME HAPPY!
Linda’s “My Letter To Cancer” is a classic and would have won me over right after reading it but she already had my allegiance because she is simply a nice person. She took me under her wing very early on and gave me just the right amount of support and encouragement to keep me on the path and trying hard. She has a loyal follower in billybuc for the remainder of her days (or mine since I am much older). Check out Sunshine625 and see what talented writing is all about. http://sunshine625.hubpages.com/
AIN’T LOVE GREAT?
Kingmaxler is her hub name but to me she is Bev and she is the woman I love and will until the day I die. She believed in my novel before anyone else did and gave me the strength to finally publish it. She is constantly putting herself down for not being educated but nobody has taught me more about life and love than she has. Read her hub “How To Own Your Own Life” for a sample of what wisdom is all about. I will love her forever…and a day…because she deserves it. http://kingmaxler.hubpages.com/
A FOUNTAIN OF KNOWLEDGE
Annart has been almost loyal to a fault. I write a hub and she comments with praise and support. It’s just like the sun coming up in the morning and setting in the evening. Read her hub on “Adult Dyslexia” for some enlightenment or if you want some info on Europe she is your travel agent for all the latest. For me, though, I just feel better having her in my corner.
THE NAME SAYS IT ALL
When you start feeling jaded and start to think there are no nice people in the world, take a moment to read some hubs by Born2Care. I’m willing to bet your perspective will change. This is a guy who is simply a good person. How do I know that? There are some people who, through their words, can convey more hope and encouragement in a single sentence than some people manage in volumes. This is one such man and I am grateful for his following.
THE IMPORTANCE OF A NAME
It was only natural that I would become a fan and follower of someone with the same last name, so Sholland10 quickly became one of my favorites. All kidding aside, she and I have travelled some of the same roads and she supported me faithfully very early on. “Parenting: Jail Or Consequences,” speaks to any parent out there and I have found that to be true with all of her hubs. She was one of my earliest followers and has remained loyal throughout my brief HubPages career. A nice person with a great name! http://Sholland10.hubpages.com/
AND NOW FOR A SILLY NAME
Picklesandrufus….what the heck does that mean? I never have asked her but I will shortly. All I know is if I write a hub she reads it and comments and I suspect I’m not the first newbie who has benefitted from her generosity of spirit. “Addiction – A Heartless Lover,” is a clear, no-nonsense look at a very difficult subject. I like straight-shooters and this lady is honest, compassionate and, happily, my friend. http://picklesandrufus.hubpages.com/
GOOD THINGS COME FROM TENNESSEE
This lady had my allegiance as soon as I saw her name….EclecticFusion….then I read her profile and I was hooked. I love her passion and yes, I love the fact that she supports me, and if you want to be moved then I suggest you read,”Since You’ve Been Gone – A Memoriam.” Writing should be a passion and that’s the word I think of when I think of this young lady….passion! http://EclecticFusion.hubpages.com/
FROM SCOTLAND WITH LOVE
Read “Looking For America – a short story” and the talent will become obvious quickly. Melovy was one of the earliest to see something in my writing worth following and she continues to be a source of support for me. I am loyal to a fault and I will always be loyal to her and her writing. Check her out next time you have the desire to see an accomplished writer who just keeps getting better. http://melovy.hubpages.com/
THAT’S ALL, FOLKS!
Not really but that’s all I have time for today. There are so many others; my followers now number 260 and each one has touched my heart in some way with their comments and support.
As writers we each owe the world as much passion as we can release in our work. Writing should be about changing the reader, moving the reader and making a lasting impression on the reader. It truly is an art form and the writers I respect the most are those who let it fly and worry about the consequences at a later date.
I will write about more of you at a later date. Just know this: I, like any other writer, need encouragement to keep going. Writing can be a lonely profession and we all need support. Take the time today to reach out to someone who is new to HubPages. It just might be the difference in them continuing with their writing instead of giving up.
It’s all about love, folks! Spread a little when you find the time and thank you, all, for showing me the way.
