If a lot of people are currently talking about an important issue in the news, then yes, writing a hub about it will generate a lot of traffic. But I would advise not expressing an opinion that's too harsh or extreme or that uses name-calling against people who don't think like you. Getting a lot of hits means getting a lot of comments, and if you're extreme and hateful or condescending, you can expect the comments to be the same way. If I were writing about something really controversial and expressing a strong opinion I would
1) Do a lot of research on the topic so that you can debate commenters who disagree with your position.
2) Take some time in your article to discuss the other side's point of view in detail and list reasons you disagree.
3) Try to avoid insulting or rude language, especially to put down someone's race, religious beliefs, etc.
4) You don't have to answer or even approve every comment, but most commenters like to be answered and acknowledged in an intelligent, respectful way so be prepared to do that.
Honestly, writing something that generates a lot of comments to me isn't worth it because, while I love writing articles, I don't like engaging people in lengthy arguments.
