   Should you publish poems on HubPages?
   
   I recently published one and found that the score associated with it started our lower than the others that were articles? If you can publish poems, what are some elements to be included to boost the score of a 'hub poem'?

   While I wouldn't claim to be an expert I wouldn't expect poems to score well.  They are typically shorter than 500 words unless you wrote an epic poem, won't likely have many capsules, and probably don't rank well on SEO metrics.
   
   With that said, "should you" is going to be subjective.  If you are looking at HubPages as an easy way to publish content that I would say, "why not?"  If you are thinking of it as a way to make money than I would say don't, "don't expect much pay for poetry."  You probably already know that.
   
   I suspect HubPages will provide a good outlet for poetry because there is a community that will share your interest but if you are looking for more exposure you will need to work for it though other channels because creative content will be harder to discover though search engines.  I would look at HubPages as a creative outlet and a way to self-publish for any fictional work and not focus on the HubScore or SEO aspects because that will likely result in lower quality/less creative work.

      If you want to focus on the HubScore I would recommend participating in the community with comments and question because there seems to be a correlation between this activity and the score.

      So what I'm getting is that it depends upon your motive for publishing it. If you don't care about making money then do it!  As I get more hubs and traffic, I'll publish them here and there just because it's a personal enjoyment for me.

   I am told that poetry is not a money maker on here, but I love poetry and continue to write it. We only get paid meager earnings on here, so why not go with your passion.

   It depends on your motivation. Poetry is not something that gets searched for a lot on Google. You would rarely see a person think, "Hey I need to read a poem on...(fill in the subject) so I will search for one on Google."
   
   I post my poetry because I love writing it and it is fun to have a place to post it and get the occasional comment.
   
   But it you really want to make money here, I would think that informational articles would be far more profitable.  So whether you post your poetry or not is a personal decision. I know I love reading other's poetry, so I'd love to see it posted.

   I don't write poetry so perhaps I shouldn't be answering this, but it was just to say that I would really miss the poetry if all our poets decided to go elsewhere. Their are many of them whose work is astounding! I really wish they did get more money as creative talent like theirs deserve it!

      I agree. Although I wouldn't consider myself a poet, I have wrote a couple in the past. But if not for the money, I think really good poems could be appreciated more on HubPages.

      Yes, I would love to see some poetry and fiction competitions on Hub Pages as a way to recognise the high quality of creative talent the site has!

   Poetry seems to be welcome here even though, as others have said, it usualy does not get a lot of traffic. So it depends on your motivation. If you like to write poetry and enjoy sharing it, post away . Many people will probably enjoy it.
   Poets are not usually expecting big earnings from their poems-- and their expectations are usually met.

   In my experience it's best to:
   
   * write several poems on one subject and put them all together on one hub.
   
   * write an analysis of a well known poem.
   
   * look at the history of poetry or biography of a poet.
   
   * keep promoting the hubs.
   
   I try to stay clear of single poems on one hub. To be successful you'd need to write either very popular poems or confessional types.
   
   I have several poetry hubs that are doing quite well.
