I have family that is on the same type of assistance you are on, and it depends on how much you are getting, and how it is going to be sent to you.
I would ask your case worker this question. Don't tell her that you will be getting it yet. Just give her a general idea that you might receive something, and maybe she will give you some ideas on what might happen should you get this money.
Any income that you get will be deducted. But, from what I have heard it is usually based on the amount spread over a period of months. I don't think they can or will take away your benefits, but you may see a reduction of it.
The government has a nasty way of keeping people who are on these types of assistance dependant on them, by punishing them for actually earning or receiving money. That way they can
continue giving money to the rich.
If everyone had money. Our system would not work, because
nobody would need to work if we were all rich.
