I recently wrote a Hub on this subject and the Hub says it all. No I'm not trolling for page views but here is the link http://rfmoran.hubpages.com/hub/Who-Are … anna-Know. I haven't received a lot of visits, perhaps because the hub title is dumb but I am very serious. HP wants to promote camaraderie, but it's difficult to relate to a person when I say "Thanks for your comment barfgag27." Why can't HP do as twitter does, show the handle followed by real name AS AN OPTION. Some, for good reason, want anonymity, but for those who don't why not have a choice. Seems like an easy software fix. Russ Moran (rfmoran) that's me.
Your wish is granted.
The new profile page allows that.

Thanks Jason, but I still had to go to your profile to learn your name. I'm talking about an option to have one's real name in every comment or post, as in Twitter. If you see a tweet of mine it says rfmoran and right next to it is Russ Moran.
HP Staff will have to address that. But I suspect you will have to ply them with donuts.
PS I'm not Jason. I'm just another wandering Hubber as yourself.
I'm fairly sure that at one point there were fields when editing your profile page that you could fill in your real name. They seem to have gone or I'm looking in the wrong place.
Excellent suggestion, rfmoran. Presently, we do not collect user's real names, so we don't have that data to display.
As paradigmsearch pointed out, with the new User Profile, we will begin to collect Real Name and display it on your profile page, if you enter it. However, entering real name is optional.
As more Hubbers provide that data, we will start to look at where else it makes to use it, but it will take many months before we have enough Real Names to make it a practical option for display.
Can I just flag up that I wouldn't want my real name displayed. This is not just because of the usual internet security issues but also because it would look ridiculous. I already have an online persona. Putting a different name next to it would just be confusing.
So choice is the issue possibly.
I don't really understand why anyone would want a handle PLUS a real name. Seems to me that is more confusing. If you're barfag27 or whatever then fine.

As there are members on HubPages like myself who use a pen name for their profile here, do you think that the step by Google to delete accounts of people who register for Plus One in anything other than their real name will eventually roll out to embrace other types of Google accounts?I found this...

Hello fellow hubbers, I have 2 questions:1. I have decided to reveal my "real" name here on Hubpages, but I haven't found the setting yet which allows me to put my name, like some hubbers have done, on their profile page, next to their pen name. For example, fellow hubber billybuc has his...

Hi all. There was an algorithm update on 9/20 that caused traffic to dip, but we’re expecting it to bounce back in the next few months. Here are a couple of things you can do to help increase your traffic in the wake of this update and strengthen your content for future updates. Add a "Real...

HiHow about giving an option to all hubbers that they may display their real names on each hub alongwith their hubpages id.Those who have ids that are somehow not at all related to their names and who want to display their real names on hubs then this option would be wonderful.Do You agree?

Something I've noticed on HP over the last few years. Certain people (like myself) use their own names to be identified as hubbers. Some use some cloak and dagger terrorist/CIA codename as their hubhandle. I sometimes feel kind of strange making myself so recognizable and identifiable in a room...
