1. I have decided to reveal my "real" name here on Hubpages, but I haven't found the setting yet which allows me to put my name, like some hubbers have done, on their profile page, next to their pen name. For example, fellow hubber billybuc has his real name Bill Holland in small font to the right of his HubPages name. How is this done?
2. Does anyone want to guess what my name is? First hint: in the movie, Intellstellar, my first name is one of the character's first name in the movie. If you haven't seen Interstellar (which I would highly recommend seeing), you can look at my Interstellar hub because I mention the first name. It's 6 characters.
I noticed that my real name is on my profile now. I didn't authorize that, but it showed up when the hub layout was changed a few weeks ago. Go figure. It doesn't bother me, but it would have when I was a newbie and wasn't sure if I wanted my real name out there
I apologize, but I cannot answer your first question. I am curious for the answer as well, so thanks for asking.
Secondly, I would love to take a stab at your name. Interstellar was an excellent movie! It has to by Murphy right? If I were given a second chance, I would say Cooper.. Both are excellent names, and can be used for either gender I would think.
I look forward to reading through some other hubs of yours. Have a good day!
You win, that's correct! Actually, it is right on my LinkedIn page if you click on the LinkedIn logo on the upper right of my profile page. You are very resourceful.
I wish this was a real contest where you win the jackpot! I will reward you with many likes and I've overdue to read some hubs, so for everyone that participated in this little game, I will have to check out lots of your hubs!
This was fun. ;-)
I miss some of the camaraderie that I used to see like this on HubPages in the past. I really hope all our traffic picks up so we can all have a prosperous year and beyond!
Marcy, glad to see you and others having fun too. Isn't this what hubbin' is all about...having fun?!
I hope we can come up with some other ways to have fun and work together. Maybe collaboration is the key. Let's see if we can put our heads together and come up with something.
I'm a little burned out because yesterday I just finished my 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge. It was a good experience for me, but I have to admit the last 10 or so hubs were a little tricky to get done but what a great feeling to be done and cross the finish line.
Let's hope for some fun writing challenges this year! I'm looking into outside writing contests but always hoping that HubPages will sponsor one. We'll see. :-)
Glad to hear that, Luis. I hope others had fun too. :-)
I would love it if the HubPages team would consider having a monetary contest or two again. Maybe something along the line of treasure hunt. Maybe we can have a special phrase or image hidden somewhere on one of our hubs. This way, it could be traffic on existing hubs. Just an idea.
I'm crossing my fingers that this is the year that contests come back. I really think it inspires us to be more creative with our hubs.
This is an easy one ; what three letters once you "know who I am" can spell two words by simply putting them in the order they first appear and then reversing their order plus by mixing their order the name of a major appliance company is the US ?
Name the words and the name of the company.
Winner will get a hub linked/shared on 2 Facebook pages, Twitter, Scoop-it, Tsu, Google Plus and LinkedIn plus a big smile emoticon..............sorry no money....I'm too broke for that!
Luis, Marcy, Steve and Para (did I miss anyone)...let me know if there are any particular hubs of yours that you would me to share. We can't pin hubs, can we? I started using Pinterest and I'm learning about pinnin'.
Luis - I remember you know...you are the photography expert. Did I ask you already way in the past...what is a good camera to photograph food? There is a setting on my Sony Cybershot for food, but I know a little camera like that isn't gonna do it. I hear that the cell phone cameras are getting better than real cameras (at least better than a Sony Cybershot).
I have an account there that I haven't used in forever - I think it's my own name - the one I use here (I should know, right?). I also tried to logon not long ago and couldn't remember my password. Feeling very blonde just now. If it's any excuse - I had some serious family health issues this past year & huge home repairs that kept me too busy for the good stuff in life, such as HubPages & Pinterest! I'm ready for a more relaxing and fun 2015.
Hope you find me on Pinterest - if you do, leave me a trail of breadcrumbs & I will look for myself there!
You can get a used Canon from Amazon for about $228.. The good thing about these digital cameras is that you can use any old Canon film lens and by having a variety of lenses (for food an 80mm or greater zoom/macro capable one works best) your creative latitude is that much greater. The best so far is one that is about the same as Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro. This lens size allows you to be as close as 1 foot from the dish.
1. Yesterday I entered my full name in the "Real Name" field in the Edit Profile page, and then saw my name which I put in parenthesis, next to my HubPages name. Today it was gone! I just went back in Edit Profile and entered my full name again, and I see it on my profile page again...we'll see what happens.
2. I have 93 hubs, but the number of hubs on my profile page say "92". Weird. If I go into the My Account page, it says "93" for the total number of my hubs. By coincidence, my HubPages Profile score is 93 today, no to be confused with the number of my hubs, which is supposed to be 93. :-O
Writer Fox is right - I was born there, but now I am FROM Texas (and proud of it!). Didn't grow up in New Jersey, though.
Okay - since Luis is the one who originally posted the right answer (even if New York was in the mix), and Writer Fox got the logic of it (Jerseys are warm, and the "New" relates to being a new baby), I owe both of you two shares.
Let me know if you have preferences - otherwise I will just pick something from the many great hubs I admire in your constellations!
Luis, The plot thickens. Based on your last clue, now I'm thinking it's more spiritual, is it related to heaven? I think we need more clues.
BTW, I started sharing hubs on my Pinterest page, starting with you, Luis. I created a Photography board, check it out, go to my Pinterest page and then click on the Photography board: http://www.pinterest.com/easylearningweb/
Shared some of you recipes on my foodlicious. (An open board so expect lots of pins) Hint for who WE are: not as spiritual as you may think but more in the realm of a fortune teller. Hint for the newspaper: look at the letters and remember how you came up with the words in my name. Remember it is a LI. ttle PAPER.
I used to do this for my high school students so I can get a bit mischievous....lol (BTW, this is not a clue)
I knew it was either New York or New Jersey.......I love this!

Wow - Luis, you really shared like crazy! Thank you so much! I owe you - I am not on as many sites as you are, but I will make it up to you with multiple shares over a few days (so I don't spam followers).
I was born in New Jersey (Jersey is warm, "new" for being a newborn). So New Jersey is the right answer. As Writer Fox mentioned, I didn't bother making a riddle on where I am 'from,' - I live in Texas, so I am from there as of many moons ago. And I tell people I'm from there, all the time. Wouldn't have been a difficult riddle to solve!
FYI - I just shared your hub on creepy doll photography (gotta be one of the most unusual photography hubs I've seen!).
Everyone contributing to this thread...I appreciate you commenting on this thread (which now has several topics and games in progress).
FYI - my "real name" issue where it doesn't stick on my profile page continues...I added my real name again this morning and I will check tomorrow to see if it remained. My number of hubs issue is resolved somehow, and now shows as 93 instead of 92.
I will follow you all on Pinterest if I can find you.
Marcy - I couldn't find you under your name, although when I searched, I did find a couple of your hubpages that others pinned.
For the first one it is astrology so then what is my sign? Hint: I am shown holding two which allows me to weigh my options. For the second: besides being a Paper and being Li. ttle it comes from small rivers. Hint: what do all proper names have in common and it comes from a single source which can also be a proper one.
Not a hint: My students found the answers in about two hours last year but they did put all their heads together. My goal was to teach them to use deductive, analytic and cognitive thinking skills.
Yes I am a Libra. Very good. Now for the newspaper. Hint: I have already told you the name. Concentrate on this; "For the second: besides being a Paper and being Li. ttle it comes from small rivers." It tells you the name of the paper plus who publishes it. Hint: what do all proper names have in common and it comes from a single source which can also be a proper one." Hint: It is seen in many social circles
Luis, I think you have stumped us all in regards to your newspaper puzzle. The only thing I can think of is "fish" from a river. Otherwise, I think we need another clue. I don't want to admit that we are all clueless? LOL.
OK... 1.The newspaper features three elements from my name 2.the small rivers is not a river at all & changing two letters into upper case should reveal a proper noun 3.Keep in mind the upper case letters (why they are so) in previous hints. This is the answer; "besides being a Paper and being Li... it comes from small rivers. It tells you the name of the paper plus who publishes it."
Luis, I found it! I asked my phone where small rivers was, thinking it was a place, but I see it is a company, and the website is: http://paper.li
I had never heard of this. So this company is good for publishing? How do you publish your books? I have several projects in progress so I'm interested in learning how others have been successful in getting their works published.
paradigmsearch - I shared your How-do-I-remember-the-visible-spectrum-An-introduction-to-Mr-Roy-G-Biv hub on my Pinterest Science Channel board (I just created this board but it will have more on it soon: http://www.pinterest.com/easylearningwe … e-channel/ ), and pinned some images from the hub on my Photograph board too.
Blimey, this thread took a turn I didn't expect. I have checked my real name - it was (thankfully) a blank spot.
I am a quiet, reserved (hermit) by nature and don't wish my name to be here/there/everywhere as "writing for income" for me is a different face to "writing for clients". While I could decide that solving smelly feet would make me a lot of money on this site (or others), I'd not wish a client to stumble across that when considering me to write their content on baking fancy cakes
I'll start with a relatively easy one if you find the correct hub to find the answer. Who played the keyboard/synthesizer on the first MTV video, Video Killed the Radio Star? He 'made' the organ breathe to have the effect of human life in more recent music.
Yes, that's it! It was Christopher Nolan's idea to use an organ in the soundtrack, but it was Zimmer who chose the specific organ, being a 1926 four-manual Harrison & Harrison organ in London's Temple Church, which was built in the 12th century by the Knights Templar. The organ parts for the soundtrack were recorded on five separate days in London. The music was composed in his (Zimmer) Santa Monica studio.
A really hard one. Guess the name of this movie! Get the right answer and I will share three of your hubs all over the place!!!
1. BMX riding might not be the movie’s main focus, but this flick shows that girls can totally be kick ass BMX-ers too!
2. Though we know this actor as a goofy vampire, this was actually his first movie. 3. The characters in this movie definitely showed that it’s not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game.
4. Her acting was great in the movie, but the lead actress doesn't exactly fit the body type of the type of character she portrays. 5. Rapper Missy Elliot remixed a special version of this song JUST for the movie!
6. This movie is packed with cameos from pro athletes.
7. Though he didn't earn any awards for this movie, one of this film’s stars has six, yes six Oscar nominations and one win. Impressive. 8. This movie has a lot of similarities to a (cancelled) ABC Family show – the show even uses some of the same plot lines. 9. This movie’s main antagonist didn't get to showcase his or her singing ability in their role, but definitely does now as a cast member on Glee!
10. Bra straps have never played a more important role in a movie before. 11. The name's a sticker 12. Reminds you of an Olympic sports 13. Athletes find out that they have more power than the judges
Thanks Luis!! It was fun. You gave enough helpful hints to narrow down a concise search query. Kudos to the Hummingbird search algorithm for knowing what I was trying to find. Thanks so much for sharing a few of my hubs.
OK here is another one: This British actor was part of a famed comedy ensemble, before his see-through character floated through walls at a magic school somewhere in England. He can also be heard as king of a far away kingdom. Who is he?
This renowned actor has been around for quite some time. His roles included a James Bond bad guy with a shiny weapon, a wizard who abandoned reason for madness and fought a War in the Stars. Who is he?
Nope. Here is another clue; he wore a cape in two of his films and liked to carry long sticks with one being "brighter" than the other. In another of his movies he lived in a tower plus didn't seem to like trees that much. Perhaps he wasn't as Wise as he was known. He also shares a real name with an actor known for playing a super hero.
Samuel Jackson, and Billy Dee Williams wore capes in Star Wars but they don't match up with futuristic and magical. I don't think it could be Harrison Ford as Hans Solo. How about Chewbacca? No, because no cape? Another clue please.
Beard in one movie and not in the other. Remember he shares a real first name with an actor who played a super hero who can fly. One role was futuristic and the other one was a magical but dangerous time "with one to rule them all"
An update: Since we began sharing our hubs I have experienced a 48% rise in the number of views, particularly from Pinterest. So this thread has had it useful purposes. Let's keep it going! Interested if others have had similar results?
Luis and FYI to all, I just received my HubWeekly email which has a summary of stats and it lists my Hub Views went down 14% in last 7 days, but I think I know why. 12/5/14 to 1/5/15 was my fast paced 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge, when there was a lot of activity during that time.
