We're always being told that when it comes to online writing, more is more. It's recommended that all hubs are above 500 words. With this in mind, it would be nice to be able to check the word count on our hubs without having to go to the hubs and look at the metrics. Maybe another page under "My Account" with "advanced stats". Information from "Hub Metrics" could be included here to make it moire accessible. Or at least a symbol next to hubs on our hub stats page? We already have one for missing summaries, so why not include an "under 500 words one" and a "missing picture" one.
Thanks for the suggestion. We actually do provide a word count on published Hubs. If you view one of your own Hubs while logged in and then click the "stats" link that appears in the black bar at the top of the page, on the Hub Metrics tab there is a Word Count field.
Also when writing a Hub, the text module has a count of how many words are in the current text capsule. But since a Hub may contain many text capsules this doesn't necessarily correspond to a total word count for your Hub.

How can I track the word count of my hubs?

I love the new cleaner hub creation interface! But I noticed that the Word Count is missing (or maybe I just don't know where to look for it). That was a helpful feature. Is that coming back?

Discrepancy between hub metrics word count, and the new word count when you create the hubWhich one do I trust?
by Anamika S Jain 6 years ago
I have been adding content to all hubs with a word count of less than 500 on a priority basis before modifying other hubs. As of now, I have to check each and every Hub to see the word count. It would have been very helpful if the details were available on the my account page too.

On another thread, a Hubber suggested that if HubPages had a minimum word count, it would prevent some spammers.I know that a very low word count can get a Hub flagged as substandard, but perhaps it's set too low at the moment?
