The HOTD program identifies 'stellar' hubs. On any given day I see probably 10-15 stellar hubs that could gain the accolade HOTD.
Why not select a committee with Staff Members, Experienced (non-AP) writers, and AP writers to vote on a selection of say 10 hubs a day?
This would give the HOTD more clarity to a lot of people, and perhaps be a 'fair' and transparent process?
I love the idea, and am already implementing it- in a way. What I do now is look at the most highly rated Hubs through the Hub Hopper, and I select those.
So better than a particular committee, our HoD choices are essentially made by those of anyone and everyone willing to take time to Hop Hubs.

PROBLEM: Whenever I write a hub on a controversial subject, a number of people create new, fake hub accounts solely for the purpose of posting negative comments and feedback on my hubs and/or threatening me anonymously....
