Marijuana is Legal where I live - Can I write about it on HubPages..? I've had a few educational Hubs on the topic Banned... Why?
Because the topic is not permitted on HubPages.
Here's our FAQ on the subject: http://hubpages.com/faq/#drugs
Though it might be legal where you live, it is not legal in other places, and we can't make special conditions for special areas. Hope that clears things up!
Not Permitted..? Why..?
Can you search Marijuana on HP and tell me what you find..?
Are bombings legal... People write about that..?
It is against Google's TOS and any Hubpages that are written about the subject could end in the cancellation of an AdSense account. This can have detrimental effects on the whole site. While many will agree that it shouldn't be a banned subject - the simple fact is that it is banned - and I don't see any writing site including HP changing that policy until it is a fully legal substance in all States.
I suggest you create your own website and then you'll be able to provide the information...
I Appreciate That, but Educational writing is Necessary... What is it, how does it work, how does it effect society.? Learning about Topics is not illegal.. How else do we know - do we hide it from each other and Turn the other cheek.? Is this a Grown Up forum..?
I understand that and you are right. But Hubpages is a commercial site and has to abide by Google's TOS.
So Curiously, Google's Ads don't have Meta Tag and Title and word detectors to place relevant ads next to sites? Would a Lego set show next to a Marijuana site, or would a Vapor Pen or Concert Tickets..? Seems like Adsense is on top of things and Ad technology is Far advanced to solve this issue... Thanks 'C'
Google don't care - if you have an article about this subject with a Google Ad on it then it is infringing their TOS and they can ban the Google AdSense account.
Then why are there SO MANY hubs about Marijuana, Cocaine, Drugs, and sex on HubPages..?
I am sure as they go through the QAP process they will all be unpublished. As paradigmsearch said "Corporate America decides what is free speech in this country. Not the constitution."
Perhaps you should bring this up with Google? They are the driving force behind what you are or are not allowed to write about if you have Google Ads on your article/web site.
I'm just curious - If this new "Green Rush" is about to take place... One of the Largest Multi-Billion Dollar industries is about to emerge.. Newly Legal Companies are developing products and I would Imagine, want to Advertise..? Is Google and HP really Turning their Heads from this Necessary need of Advertising..?
Google have strict policies with legal and illegal things - no form of sex is allowed, no drugs etc. etc. Google are entitled to set their own standards for the type of sites they want their Ads on. And as Google is so large then sadly they do turn their heads away from it - HP has no choice to follow suit, even if they agree with you.
How is it Possible To Educate those who want Information..? Last I knew, 5th graders were going over what the Different Kind of Narcotics do What in their Health Class...
What do you suggest is the best way to educate, share facts, and interesting news and developments about the topic that we could write about here on HubPages..? or are You Just Saying "Sorry - You're Outta Luck..!"
Basically "Sorry you are out of luck" - HP have to abide by Google's TOS otherwise they won't have a business. If you want to educate then there are plenty of places where you can write and you won't be hampered. Complaining to HP won't change a thing - get Google to change their policies and then HP will adapt theirs accordingly - until then create a Wordpress blog.
Thanks 'C' for your responses... I've waited more than a Year... I'll wait some more. I appreciate your insight everyone
I'm actually on your side - I think there is a need for quality information on all of these subjects so that people can become properly informed - but I understand HP's point of view and have no choice to respect that.
For now, I suggest you create a blog on Wordpress - if you're not interested in money then you simply have to right - if you want to make some money then there are other advertising options who have less strict guidelines.
Marijuana has been healing people, curing problems, and enhancing the quality of life for Many years and people want to know about the FACTS. It will also bring in an expected $130 million dollars to Schools, Kids , and State funding for productive State Expansion... More than 10 corporations Trade Publicly on the US Stock Exchange and new Educational Universities are established to educated in the cultivation and business development of this new growing industry - ANYONE Want to know More..?
SimeyC is right.
Basically, Corporate America decides what is free speech in this country. Not the constitution.
Take it up with Adsense.
But I would note sex, smoking and gambling are legal too and Adsense doesn't permit that either. It is about maximizing profit, not the law.
Maximizing Profit... Legal Weed... Go Hand in Hand..?
Maximising profit for Adsense = not alienating any major advertisers (many of which are quite fundamentalist).

Here's how it works...

Hi, I have been posting a series of hubs on Dog Care and Adoption topics. All my hubs are original and I type each character in it. I also got a decent number of Hubs(21) to begin with all with good content. But google has twice turned down my request for adsense Account. It says-" Thank you...

Looks like another content sniper is at work, stealing our shizz from HubPages. This so called "music news" site has sniped at least four of my Hubs and it looks like there are many other pieces pinched from my fellow music Hubbers as well. If you've written any Hubs about music (any kind...

I'm curious, will I have to turn off my google ads, hubpages ads? I've seen a few hubs and some have them turned off and others still have ads on. I plan to follow the guidelines and be strictly informational and provide disclaimers saying not to do illegal activities. Can someone please help me...

I like to check Hubpages on breaks at work. Now, I can't access my Hub feed because a Hubber chose to write a Hub about drugs, and Hubpages hasn't caught onto it yet. My organization is pretty fair on what it blocks/allows. Usually blocks things about gun violence, cults, and drugs. They also only...

So I've been a Hubpage and Squidoo writer for the past 5 years. Recently, my 185 Squidoo hubs were transferred over to Hubpages and to start earning money, I applied for the Google adsense program about 2 weeks ago. It appears that my account was approved for a couple days and then I...
