Finally got adsense approved, and I made a dollar!  And enough change to cover sales tax!

Yes, this is exciting.  Don't judge me.  I need some good news amid my Twitter battle.  I'm starting to hate social media.

Thanks!  I'm glad I'm not the only one.  The AdSense thing was killing me, my application got stuck after the first time it was denied for lack of content and never pushed out of pending status, so I couldn't resubmit.  Took me three weeks to sort it out.

I got rejected for 2 weeks for lack of content. Gave up for a week, then tried again. Was finally approved.

Seems like it's a pretty common thing.  My traffic didn't really pick up until recently anyway, so it probably wouldn't have made more than a few cents difference to get it approved sooner.

Awesome...hopefully there is more to come! What kind of battle on Twitter?

Had a bunch of tweets/follows popping up that I didn't have anything to do with posting, so I had to start a new account.  The old one, however, doesn't want to deactivate and my phone didn't want to follow the e-mail verification link, along with a couple of other minor hiccups.  It was just a pain, and realistically not worth the effort, but it is what it is.

Goog grief ...does sound like a major pain and not worth the headache for sure!

Congratulations. I came to HubPages to give social media a wide berth.

A wise decision, I suspect.  I took some early advice to try to use social media to advertise, but building a sizable network is not an easy task.  I tried to do so among other Hubbers with extremely limited success, and my lack of understanding of the intricacies leaves me at a standstill now.

Congrats on your Adsense earnings! It does take a while..and yeah, it can feel like forever. Maximize influence (use social media), monetize, build your platform, and keep at it. It's a dollar more today than you had yesterday smile

Wow.  Seriously, thanks everybody.  I didn't really anticipate this much support over a dollar.

At least I know you're not after me for my money, anyway.

For what little worth it is, I should've likely bailed on it. I don't recall the last interaction I had.

Congratulations!  Seriously.  Seeing any amt of $$ in your account IS exciting.  Before HP, trust me......23 cents never did a thing for me!
Much luck & success to you.  I know you're going to be big.  I've read some of your work.  You are extremely talented.  Not to brag (that's a lie)...my predictions for hubbers I become familiar with, have always been accurate.  Just ask my big bro, billy....I jumped on him (well, not that way) from Day one....and I TOLD him he would rise to fame.  I rest my case.   Thanks for sharing the news and letting us celebrate with you!  I love parties.

Woohoo!! Congrats to you, JG11Bravo. It is a big relief to finally get adsense. That's the one thing that almost drove me away. I went a little crazy at that time. It was a mess not understanding what to do, forgetting my password, not remembering which email address I used, yadda, yadda, yadda. It was a nightmare. I finally got it by going through my business website and "connecting them." To this day, I cannot tell you how I did it.

Truth be told, I wound up clearing out the original application that was stuck, using an alternate account, and signing up through Youtube.

Maybe we should start a club.  I'd say we could get t-shirts, but I don't think we can afford it.

Haha, this really made me smile. It does start off that way and you might be left thinking "what did I get myself into". You're so funny. Congrats on that dollar $. Don't spend it all in one place.smile

I just managed to get excited about it when I finally started making money.  I've never written self-credited work for pay before, it has always been ghost-writing in the past.  It's nice to finally have some income, no matter how little it is, without having to let someone else slap their name on my efforts.

I agree with you. My personal preference is to have my own name on my work instead of ghost-writing. I've never done that before.

True! It took me forever to earn that first dollar, but after that, it comes much quicker.

It seems to be going much faster for the second dollar.  I'm a big short-term goals kind of guy, but there was so much involved in that "start making money" goal that it became more "mid-term", so I mostly stick with hub/view count goals, that sort of thing, to keep myself motivated.
