Hello All,
Some of you write in places beyond HubPages (as I do)... one of those sites where I have written is preparing to close.
I've written a piece there (which I retain the rights to), and I'd like to bring that piece to HubPages.
In order for the submission to not be considered a duplicate here, if I take it off that site first, will HP accept it? Is there a minimum waiting period required before re-publishing here? The other site allows me to post the content in two places, but I realize HP has different rules.
Thanks in advance for any help!
I usually cut and paste all the content to a Hub, delete the content, wait 10 days and then publish here.
Yup. You need to wait for a few days after deletion. Then you can post it over here. I tried that myself
Once you remove that piece from the original site, you might want to go to:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals?pli=1
To de-index it from Google - it may take a day or two to go to the full process. After the waiting period, google your piece and see if anything comes up.
Then, you might want to run your piece through:
http://www.dustball.com/cs/plagiarism.checker/
to make sure it doesn't show up as an already published article.
It doesn't hurt to ask HP either, so you know you are doing it right.
Good luck.
Plagiarism checker - what a fun tool - can this be used to see if people are copying our hubs?
Here's the link to the article in the Learning Center where HubPages talks about duplicate content and what they allow.

Hmmm...I guess you have to delete it there. Then, you ask Google to delete it too from the search engines. Then, you can safely re-publish it here.

I am kinda flattered, but mad as a wet hornet. Has anyone here ever heard of barryrutherford? Well, compare his Hub, Bipolar, more on this subject, and So, whats wrong with being bipolar? I mean, good grief! And this guys profile says he has studied law. (Studied, but...

What is duplicate content? When I get flagged for duplicate content, it kind of breaks my heart, especially when I write something that is totally original - no quotes, no links, etc. I see so many "duplicate" hub oriented hubs and wonder why they exist without being flagged as duplicate...

I am moving this question over here to ask for help from the hubpages team.2 of my hubs and some of hovalis' hubs seem to have had a penalty applied by google and have disappeared from the search rankings down to the last page. The conclusion we have come to is that they have been flagged for...

A while ago I checked out one hub of a suspicious writer. I mean by that, a forum post seemed to indicate that the writer was one of the get-rich-quick, I-can-teach-you-everything-you-need-to-know-to-make-a-million-online types. That was my assumption, but I could be wrong.Anyway, the...

I found out this morning that this site had stolen at least 2 of my hubs. The more I looked, the more I noticed that it appears every single post on the site is a stolen hub, completely copied in most cases (including the authors' names and copyright notes, ironically). I see lots of names of...
