My views on my Hubs are increasing, but my earnings are going down.  Why is that?  It was going up last month.

Earnings do fluctuate and don't necessarily correlate absolutely with views. For example, a couple of times my educational hubs have been shared by teachers across a whole network of schools or added to newsletters and views skyrocketed in consequence. But schools block ads - so no additional earnings!

That depends on where your earnings are coming from.  If they've been coming from ads, then people may not be in the mood to buy your products right now.  If they are coming from searches, you should still be getting some income, but your CPM may have dropped.  CPM is the amount per 1,000 views that an advertiser is willing to pay to display his ad on your page.  This varies significantly and can depend on many factors.  So, even though views may be increasing, lower clicks and CPM can and will reduce earnings.  However, this can change depending on what you write about and whether your hubs are evergreen or seasonal.  Also, timing matters a lot.  We're soon to be entering the holiday season, so not as many people may be reading.

Yes, always check the CPM as this can vary from day to day, hence the drop OR RISE in earnings!!

You're welcome.  I do think it's important for writers to understand about views and earnings.  Some people think that just writing many articles will earn them the most, but the truth is that one good article that goes viral can earn more in a day than over years of writing. those that are less stellar or popular in nature.

Average CPMs are likely to rise in the coming months compared to summer because of the holiday season. I've already seen a huge increase compared to July-August regarding CPMs but should note that what you write about matters a lot. Some niches are better in summer, some during the holidays, and others work year-round.
