That, my friend, is the main question here. I have the same problem. I think it is based on how many people view your hubs and how many people rate your hubs up or down.
I don't know if it has anything to do with how many hubs you publish, because there are times when I publish a lot and my number changes but then other times when it doesn't affect me.
I know that the hubs with pictures get higher marks.

Every time I publish a hub, my hubber score goes down a point or sometimes two, and I would have thought the HP would want me to publish more hubs. But, I guess that is not the case. Maybe that is why so many hubbers are jumping ship.

I took a hiatus for awhile from Hub Pages! However, in the past week or so, I have added new hubs participated in forums, asked a question or two, participated with the Hub Hopper, have read some Hubs, yet my Hubber Score is lower than it was when I was doing nothing. I don't get it!

Can I go ahead and write hubs for the food contest and post them on HP as unpublished? Then I could just click "publish" on the right day for the topic. Also, how do I post a hub to the contest? Be kind - this is my first ever HP contest! And yes, I read the instructions.Thanks in advance...

Why does it bug me so much when I see my hubscores going down? It is not supposed to matter, especially when it is just a point or 2 but it really gets to me.
