    I am new to blog myself but hubpages is good.  There is also  Squido you can try out.  If you are looking for free web hosting, hostei.com is good. They don't place ad on the pages and you can use php, mysql and you can install wordpress on their server.

    You could create a blog at http://www.blogger.com. It is free and you can put AdSense and other affiliate ads on it to earn money.

    And in answer to the second person, HubPages and Squidoo are not blogging sites.
