We just released another update to the site a few minutes ago. The big changes are the addition of the code capsule, a redesign of the my account pages, and some small adjustments to Q&A (now called Answers on the menu).
The code capsule isn't for constructing your hubs using HTML and javascript, it's for writing hubs about programming. It allows you to display nicely formatted code in various languages, such as Java, PHP, CSS, HTML, and C++. It may even be useful for formatting poetry. Here's a sample code capsule hub.
In Q&A the big change is that you can now view listings by answer or by question. But there are a few other small enhancements.
There isn't a whole lot of new functionality in the my account section, it's just organized a little better.
As usual, if you notice any problems with these new features, or other parts of the site please let us know.
Thanks!
Wow!
I was toying with an idea to do a hub that involved a CSS3 tutorial, it will benefit greatly from the use of that capsule.
Awesome! I look forward to playing around with this
Edit: Just gave it a test drive on one of my new hubs. It is pretty Cool!
However, and this might be by design, I noticed that the code capsule does not appear in the menu that shows up when you scroll to the bottom of the page(ie: the Add a Capsule dialog )
In either case, I give y'all a big thumbs up for the new Code Capsule!!
Roflmao, I though my Hubpages was broken...
I just came back and was like "what happened?"
I now get to learn how to click in the new "My account" setup, I had it so I could check everything in like 20 seconds. =\
~thranax~
I thought it was broken too. But my heartbeat is returning to normal now. It's all going to be okay. Maybe some warning like, today things will be changing. Don't pass out if things look differently.
I love the changes to the Accounts pages, and I'm very excited to start using the code capsules!
The update is really nice, especially it supports code formatted in various languages, such as Java, PHP, CSS, HTML, and C++.
Thanks hubpages team for this great update.
"pauldeeds", thank you also you as I heard this great news form you.
Account Page looks better arranged and everything is fine at present.
Thanks
It all looks and works perfectly well using flock as browser, same with IE8. Excellent. Thank you HubPages team!
ooh I love this. Now I can really write html/css hubs
I thought I broke something too when I first saw the new changes and was wondering why I was on a different page until I saw the Forums button moved a bit lol..but it looks great! Paul, thank you
It was a surprise to see the new look in the my account section, but it does look more organized. Nice.
It looks really nice now, as I do not have to scroll down to click on affiliate settings, url trackers, and other capsules. It is all in front of me and this saves my time.
One thing I noticed in answers, you can't flag the questions any more...or I can't see how to flag them. I came across one that is basically spam with the person who asked it answering it and giving information on a website. Is voting it down the only option?
For an answer the only option is to vote them down. For questions you can flag them from the question list page, but we probably ought to allow it in the answers list as well.
The my account page does look a little better now. It'll take a while to get used to now, though.
Would it be to much to ask about this though?: You know when you're building a hub and you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, and the capsule selection box follows when you scroll? Maybe that could be done with the stats page, especially if you have a lot of hubs. Just a thought.
Think of the people who have 700 hubs!
Is the IdeaBank still available on the Answers page? I noticed it was not in the left sidebar anymore.
Art meets science! When I saw the code capsule i'll admit i got excited at the prospect of pasting html. Was a tiny bit crestfalled when i read that it was for hubs on programming, but then i saw the word "poetry". I think it's quite poetic that the capsule is also good for formatting poetry, as I've long wanted to give my poetry pages a more rustic feel.
Thanks!
