       Australia is a pretty irreverent society I guess. Lots of creativity and diversity here though. A bit like America in many ways, without the religious and political extremes.
       We just got a female Prime Minister, who is not a god-botherer and said so straight out. I like her!
       I have to say I have never heard of hubtrails that I can recall.

       yeah, here too.  but...we did have a fireworks display tonite.  (I didn't go...not feeling up to it)  and we'll have another tomorrow.  the Big One tomorrow!  called Rhythm & Booms.  the fireworks are synchronized to music - so far, over the past 15 years or so, I haven't gone to it.  The kids are usually at their dads for the 4th or the timing was wrong or something else came up, ya know?

             your kids wont go?  that's too bad.  Something I always wished my family had done was have Family Reunions.  I never met any of my extended family beyond a few cousins from 1 uncle I had.  (my mom was the youngest of 8)  Is there any chance of talking sense into the kids?  maybe another family member would have luck?

    Problems with my daughters boyfriend a couple of years ago has caused her to withdraw from the family ( I wrote several hubs about it) so I have not seen her kids since then and now my son is acting like a shit and we are at our wits end with the constant broken promises and illegal habits so it is likely that he will go the way of his sister before to long.

       sorry to hear it.  it sounds rough.  I struggle with my daughter but not to that extent.  she just hates me and refuses to believe her daddy's family isn't all it's cracked up to be.  I wish I had something better to say...

    Not much to say really it is what it is. From my perspective with my daughter we made the right choice in reporting her jack ass boyfriend for abusing her kids. Since the state found sufficient cause to convict him on several counts of child abuse I do not feel bad about what we did. She does not see it yet that he is a complete jerk but I suppose one of these days he will cross a line with her and then the fireworks will fly.

       I know somewhat where you're coming from.  my daughter makes poor choices too, but is still too young or immature yet to be where your daughter is. (she's 23 and dependent on her daddy's family)

    Well my daughter is certainly old enough to know better, and she was not raised in a world where abuse is acceptable by any means but whatever. Until he hurts her I guess it's all good. Does not matter that her daughter is in residential treatment or that her sons are totally lost that's okay she is IN LOVE!

    No I am not able to see her. She has not been in touch with us in 2 years except at court dates and CPS meetings and then she makes it very clear she wants nothing to do with us.
