I am new to Hubpages and just found you through the editors. Any advice for the new girl?
I only have two hubs now as I am a chicken! I am trying to find the voice I use with friends but am painfully shy here. I don't even have a picture to post yet. What if nobody likes me here?
Have a lot of fun. Be patient. Write about what you love. Again, Have fun!
I can't give you advice for making much money, but I can give you advice that will help boost your hub score.
Write original material. Even when I write hubs to promote and sell products, I try to add a little interest to them. For example, when I wrote a hub about turquoise jewelry, I included some history about the stone.
Add photos to your hubs for added interest.
Research SEO and keywords and include them in your text.
I seldom write a hub less than 500 or 600 words, unless it's a recipe. Even then, I try to make it at least 400 words.
Read hubs written by others and leave comments.
Participate in the forums in a friendly way. Never personally attack another hubber. This will result in a ban.

I have been on Hub Pages about a year and I have written about 27 Hubs and they have received close to 5000 views, which I felt was not bad and my status hovers between 82-88. Last week I had about 8 of my Hubs featured, which again seemed ok. Now magically overnight, I have all these codes now...
