Can we manually make affiliate links NoFollow?
As far as I can see external links are automatically made DoFollow or NoFollow by Hubpages depending on certain criteria. However, what if I do not want a link to be DoFollow?
For example, I build a quality hub with good content and work hard on getting other sites to link to my hub, thereby increasing the PageRank of my hub. If I include a link / URL that redirects to an affiliate program I do not want that link to be DoFollow for several reasons...
However, seems I can't manually make links NoFollow and the HTML code does not allow me to insert the rel="nofollow" attribute. Any ideas?
As there is no place in editor for making any link dofollow or nofollow. System (hubpages) is taking care of that for you. You can't use HTML tags inside either so this is not possible to do.

Is a link to my own blog considered an affiliate link? I want to link from a Hubpages article I am writing to an article on my blog that further describes what I am writing about in the article.

I've seen some hubs with affiliate links on them... such as from Commission Junction. Is there a HubPages policy on using these types of links?
