        HubPages was like that 3 years ago - or at least, some of it was.  It was a small community and some Hubbers wrote Hubs  purely to share interesting information they'd found on the net.

        I recall (how could I forget) getting crucified because I questioned whether it was legitimate to do that.  Unfortunately the example I chose was a Hub containing one single (copied) cartoon, which was produced by a well-respected Hubber and writer. 

        Funny, because these days I know what reaction that would get!  It just shows how HubPages has changed since the "old days".
