usually I notice that these hubbers do have lot of followers but less numbers of hubs. Is there any limit of having number of followers

If you see a Hubber with a very low Hubscore, it suggests he or she has broken the rules somewhere.

Most likely, their Hubs are not original.  The other common reason is that they join HubPages and go on a "following" spree, thinking it will somehow earn money.   They can get lots of followers that way, because some people are silly enough to follow back, without even looking at the person's profile.

If you follow too many people, HubPages will penalise you heavily.

Marisa W is correct; it usually means that rules have been broken and the "follower spree" syndrome seems to be right too.
Follow those whose writing appeals to you.

Following indiscriminately can get you lower profile scores or worse. Following a large number of hubbers does not affect you in any way if it is done legitimately.
