Is there some trick to getting fans? I don't mean like to trick peopl into being a fan but rather a legitimate path to find interested people and point them to my hubs. I think I write with some authority about my subject matter but it doesn't seem to be attracting anyone. What's the trick?

    Thanks.

This is certainly one way. I just checked your hub "How to Play Guitar." Very well written and informative. There! Now I've "plugged" your writing.

Just keep doing what you are doing. Now you have three fans. big_smile

I think forums are a good way to link with other writers.

For example, after I read something you post in a forum, I might read your hub and you might read mine.

      there's no trick.

      Write interesting hubs.
      Take part in the community.
Show people that you have a sense of humour, personality, etc.

(Well, it seems to work for me. Having 2 heads helps too smile )

What Eric said.  The main thing is to participate intelligently in the forum and in comments on Hubs, so people will notice you and be tempted to look at your Hubs.  As for reciprocal fanning - I am very selective about whose fan clubs I join myself, yet I seem to have done OK in attracting fans of my own.

Read and comment on other people's hubs, and if you like their work join their fanclub, then they may read your stuff and like it, (and then join yours). Write good quality content, post on forums, and most of all "be nice". The fans will find you if you do this and can see you are making a genuine effort. Good luck smile

I second this. I've had people comment on my hubs, or join as fans and I always go take a look at what they've written. I've found lots of great hubbers this way that I might not have encountered otherwise! smile

Write more hubs....and then go to a shop and buy a fan if you are hot, I have a stand up fan to keep myself cool!

With summer fast approaching downunder I think I may have to get the stand up fan out again to sit near my desk.

    AY YI YI...

    BE ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY:
comment on others hubs/reply to comments made on your own hubs
    publish quality hubs
    post in the forums

DO NOT FAN PEOPLE IN HOPES THAT THEY WILL FAN YOU. MOST WON'T AND FAMMING WILL LOWER YOUR HUBSCORE ANYWAY

BE PATIENT: it doesn't all happen all at once, but you can't just sit back and assume people will find you. You actually have to get your name and face out there a little.

REMEMBER--FANS COME FROM WITIHN HP, NOT FROM OUTSIDE TRAFFIC, SO YOU HAVE TO GET TO KNOW YOUR FELLOW HUBBERS AND STAY VISIBLE IF YOU WANT THEM TO FIND YOU big_smile

I try to trick people , offer bribes , whatever It takes !And like Janetta says just be active here , comment on other hubs , be a fan of other people . Or like me just keep buggin em till they break down and become your fan !

I average 5 fans per hub and I love them all.

My secret? I have no clue. I just write hubs, chat in the forums a bit, and try to be good-natured, even when Darky tells me his avatar looks better than mine ... which it doesn't (at least not where I come from)

well, why do you want them?
For ratings or do know that people are enjoying your work....

A little of both, like most hubbers here I have some business reasons, but it's nice to be recognized for doing good work. To me having fans and  a decent rating means that. I appreciate every one who joined my fan club as a result of this post, but my real intention is to get fans that are truly interested in my subject matter.  A reason to continue writing.

You get fans by writing shit people want to read, and by writing it well.
