    How important are accolades?

Does having more of them help? If yes, how?

They do because it shows your credibility on hubpages when it comes to how you participate. You're accolades also presents the emphasis of your identity here on hubpages as one of the best writers here and also lets others follow you and also expect a lot from you, whether its writing new articles or being on forums or even asking questions directly to them. Your accolades will garner more followers as well, so make you keep at it.

Accolades are a way for you and others to see that you've achieved certain levels of participation in the HubPages community. A grown-ups version, as it were, of the kindergartners' stars WD Curry 111 mentioned. (Good call, WD!)

Yes, they do help your standing, which in turn has an effect on your earnings. ;D

It's sort of like having M.D., PhD, or something similar after your name to denote that "you know what you're doing."  When readers see that you're established and well-liked, they're more likely to read your hubs.

There are lots of low-quality writers out there, and accolades are a simple way to sort yourself from the chaff.

Good one WD, except that kindergarten was such a long time ago that I don't remember everything, or what those stars meant!
For me these accolades have been surprises after surprises...... They jump up on you when you least expect them! But they are always welcome! smile
