    I've only seen this on Yahoo! Answers, but I'm guessing that it was the most helpful and informative answer. A simple "yes" or "no" is often known to be a better answer than reems and reems of text that has nothing to do with the question.

    However some people write said reems and reems of text because they don't understand the question, or the person asking isn't informative enough about the topic.

      I often have to add to my answer because HubPages says it's too short.

    Hub Pages implemented 'best answer' because the question and answers structure was beginning to resemble their forums with everyone commenting on each other's answer. It's just a way to distinguish the forums from the questions and answers.

    The hubber who asked the question simply needs to pick which answer best answered their question.
