Is the Hub Hopper completely random?
Does the Hub Hopper pick Hubs completely at random (from recently published hubs), or does it pick more of certain articles (such as from new hubbers)?
My guess is that it is completely random, but I'm really not sure.
Good question and one that I would like to know for sure. But, from what I have read in the learning center, the hubs are completely random from recently published hubs.
Yes it is but, you can go and pick a category that you are interested in reading.
Hi nakmeister, my understanding is that it is random, but perhaps one of the tech folks from HP can confirm?
To a degree, it focuses quite highly on newer hubs, ones that have been added more recently. This gives more focus to those that are adding hubs more frequently by default. After all it would be unfair to the active community if hubs years old from hubbers that haven't contributed in a long time were showing up too much.
It does seem to be random, but I've noticed that it favors the topics I'm following. When I was only following the Literature section I got a lot of poetry in the Hopper, but now that I'm following more topics my hops are on more subjects.

There is a new Hub Hopper that is available today. I've posted some details about it on the blog and set this thread up to discuss it and to get feedback. *Note, the Hopper is only collecting data right now, but will soon be used to select Hubs to feature.

I'm curious as to whether there has been a decrease in hubbers using the hub hopper to rate hubs. I just have a feeling there is because my hub scores haven't been fluctuating as much (which is fine with me). Overall, I'm wondering if there's been a bit of a slow down in hub QAP due to...

I really don't like the "new" hopper and have not bothered to hop hubs since it came out several months ago. In the spirit of helping to clear up the backlog, however, I gave it another shot tonight. The sliding scale ratings are too much to worry with, IMHO. I tried to thoughtfully apply...

Someone recently stated that there are limits to how much you can link to your own hubs. Does anybody know the limitations?

Would any of you suggest 'reporting' an obvious newbie who has obviously not read anything of the rules and protocols here, whose profile includes no bio and indicates having joined but 2 hours prior, and whose portfolio includes but a single, very short and very poorly written hub?I'm not even...

Has the "Classic" Hub Hopper been done away with? It doesn't seem to be available anymore. If so, that's a bummer. I always preferred that version over the "advanced" one because I had the ability to "skip" over Hubs that didn't interest me or I didn't feel qualified...
